Cityscape

This view of midtown Atlanta, Georgia, is from Lake Clara Meer in Piedmont Park. I have made use of both soft and light lead pencils to best capture the effect of the shade and shadows of the afternoon light on the skyline overlooking the lake.

Atlanta Skyline #804A

The wonderful thing about this cityscape drawing is the line work on the skyscrapers, because they are tall. Since they are right behind Lake Clara Meer they look like the park’s guardians, because they are formidable structures. This cityscape drawing is done in soft lead pencils because they bring out deep shade and shadows. The softer the lead the deeper the shadows.
