This pen & ink drawing of Piedmont Park in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia, is done with red ink and a fine point metal pen. The drawing is similar to drawing number SKU 857 in that it also employs a fine point pen. However, the treatment of the drawing here is more relaxed and flowing in general.
Shadowing
You can see the difference between this and drawing SKU 857 with the work of the shadowing and line work on the water where hatching covers almost all of the water’s surface. The tone of the drawing is lighter and fresher; there is not the over-work shadowing on the skyscrapers, as is the case with drawing SKU 857.
Clouds
My favorite part of this drawing is the treatment in the handling of the trees. Though there is a similarity in all the drawings of this scene the trees here are the lightest and most spontaneous. Clouds are kept out of the picture so as not to take away from the lovely line work in the water with would be the natural counterpart.

Also, the detailing on the buildings is more relaxed and is a better compliment to the lovely setting here in Piedmont Park.
