Atlanta Skyline #865A At Piedmont Park
Lake Clara Meer
This watercolor of the Atlanta, Georgia, skyline is overlooking Lake Clara Meer in Piedmont Park, towards the Midtown. I have used sepia ink with pen along with the watercolor to enhance the details of the image.
Landscape
My intent here is to convey a sense of the city in a park like setting rather than an abrasive urban district. All too often people have a negative view on city life that has images of crime, drugs, and gangs. Atlanta is none of this, for this queenly and elegant city is one of the great joys of this country.
Gardens
Everywhere that you go in Atlanta trees, gardens, and parks surround you. The city planners have done an outstanding job of coordinating zoning laws and building codes that have the beauty of the city in mind.
Buildings
In this watercolor you can see the park like imagery that Atlanta is working to achieve and with great success. The color of the buildings can be seen in their reflection on the water along with the outline of the trees that run along the shore of Lake Clara Meer.
Lines
I have made the line work on the buildings loose and yet clear enough so that to you know the identity of the structure. The same sense of line movement is also done in the water and trees around Piedmont Park.
Color
The word to describe the color of the trees on the lake is fresh, for that is what I had hoped to achieve here in this wonderful view of the great city of Atlanta, Georgia.
