Celebrity

This celebrity render of Fred MacMurray is done with multi-color pen & ink. As a child I grew up watching the TV show “My Three Sons”, because our family had three sons and I will the middle boy. The series was very popular and ran for 12 seasons. I think that it would be difficult to day to repeat this kind of series due to various racial tones suggested in it.

The celebrity drawing is done with many different colors of ink. Yellow is the base color and the I work my way up to brown. I first drew the portrait in pencil and then followed up in black pen & ink. However, I just did the back drawing in black because I wanted the colors to fill in the tones. The yellows really bring out the color in his face as it lightens up the face. I did not want to used dark colors because they are difficult to work with

Drawing Characteristics

Characteristics of this celebrity drawing are the contour lines that out line Fred MacMurray’s face, and the bright colors. In the photo of Fred, he eyes are really large and round. He is conservatively dressed with a jacket and tie because that was the style in the 50’s.
