Description
Board of Trade 213A Building Chicago, pen & ink landmark drawing at night by artist Stephen Condren, BFA, SAIC.
Landmark
This landmark rendering of the Chicago Board of Trade Building is done at night. On top of this landmark building is a statue of the Roman goddess Ceres. Ceres is the Roman goddess of wheat and grains because these are grains. Ceres is like an ornament on the top of a Christmas tree. All around the landmark are tall skyscrapers that box the Board of Trade Building into a cavern.
Board of Trade 213A
The landmark drawing is done in pen & ink at night. Contour lines make the outlines of the skyscraper with bold black ink on this landmark drawing. Outlines are the way contour lines best function, because they delineate the subject of the drawing. I have put bold ink lines all the way down the sides of the landmark Board of Trade Building because they give strength to the rendering.
Nighttime
What makes this landmark drawing interesting is the nighttime view because it has a haunting element to it. Further adding to the haunted element of the landmark is are the tall skyscrapers that flank each side of the structure. This landmark building is made of stone and glass, because Art Deco is monumental. The landmark building looks tall because it tapers in as it goes higher.
