Landmark

This landmark rendering of the Chicago Board of Trade Building is done in pen & ink. In this city scene the Board of Trade building was built  in 1930 in Chicago. This Art Deco building stands at the end of LaSalle Street on Jackson Blvd in downtown Chicago because it is at a rail road terminus. The landmark drawing looks tall because the building is tall which makes a great city scene.

Stone masonry is the building material used for construction because it is strong. The Board of Trade keep the building up to date in all modern city codes. This is one of the most popular tourist sites in Chicago, because it is in the center of the Loop.

Board of Trade 212A

The landmark drawing is of the Chicago Board of Trade. At the top of this land mark drawing is a statue of the Roman goddess Ceres. Ceres is the Roman goddess of what and grains because this is what is trade in the building. The pen & ink is a perfect compliment to the Art Deco Architecture because it is very straight and linear.

This building look very tall and imposing when you look at it from LaSalle Street, because it is monumental in scope. The landmark drawing is done with fine point pen nibs and black India ink. These was no use of hatching in the drawing because there are few shadows. Hatching is best used for dark shade and shadows.
