Landmark

This landmark cityscape rendering is done with watercolor and pencil, because it is a refined view. The use of pen & ink in the landmark rendering would be too restricting for the image, because of the park setting. Soft pencil lines work much better in this landmark watercolor, because they are not abrasive.  This landmark rendering give a good look of the structure, because it is tall and thin. There are not any extraneous details to render in this landmark building.

The rendering is focused on the Prudential Building, and Pru2 Tower which are next to this landmark building. Though the Aon Center is only 80 stories tall it is the third tallest building in Chicago. When the Aon Center was first build it was called the Standard Oil Building of Indiana. At that time the building façade was done of Italian marble, making it the tallest marble structure in the world. However, as time passed the marble began to crack and fall off of the building so it was all removed at great expense.
