Chicago Skyline (714Z)

Art

This fine pen & ink drawing of the Chicago skyline is seen from Monroe Harbor looking west. At the bottom of the drawing is the costal shoreline of the harbor up against Grant Park. This rendering is a segment of the large skyline of Chicago. On the left side of the drawing is the Midcontinental Plaza and to the right side of the drawing is the Aon Center on East Randolph Street.

Cityscape

Horizon

The drawing lends itself as a natural harbor city scene. At the center of the drawing, just above the water, are the trees that comprise the gardens of Grant Park. To the left of this area, and on seen in the drawing, is the famous illuminated Buckingham Fountain. This cityscape drawing is one of a series that I have done in pen & ink because this is a great city. Chicago has the second largest downtown in the country outside of Manhattan Island.

Drawings

Renderings

This cityscape drawing is done in pen & ink with a fine tip nib. I like doing a close-up rendering of the city because you can then recognize the different building much better. When you draw the skylines from a distance all you see is the outline of the city, rather than the individual buildings.

Chateau De Bourneau Pen & Ink Drawing

Historic Site Stylus Sketch

This is an architectural rendering of Chateau De Bourneau done in pen & ink, because this reflects the beauty of the architecture naturally. I came upon this chateau from an article posted on the front of Microsoft Edge, because this is where I read most of my news. Every time that I open Microsoft Edge all the world news, and events are brought right to me, because they are right on top of it all.

Jean-Baptiste & Erin

As an artist and instructor Architecture, and Engineering at both College, and High School levels, I am always interested in preservation articles, because I love architecture. When I saw the image of the chateau with the young couple I took interest and read the story. I was so taken by Jean-Baptiste, and Erin and what they had done, and more importantly, having single handedly rescued an architectural treasure, I drew Jean-Baptiste’s portrait. Now I have done the chateau. The Gois’s have saved this wonderful structure, and are now sharing it with all of us by making it a lovely, and gracious hotel, Chateau De Bourneau. Thank you Jean-Baptiste and Erin!

Satan’s Dungeon

Gay Man’s Torture

The image here shows Satan with his minions in one of his many dungeons, because we are in the regions of Hell. Surrounding this young naked gay boy are demons doing the bidding of Satan, because he owns them. It is dark, and the young man is tied up with an erection, because fear, and stress, often makes a man’s penis erect.

In this sarcastic spoof on Satan, and his evil angels, I have shown the naked man with an erection, because this offers comic relief, and is making fun of Satan.

Pencil Rendering For

I have done this drawing in very soft dark leads, because I wanted to capture the darkness of the dungeon.

Male Figure Pen & Ink Drawing

Manly Physique Sketch

This handsome young man is posed in a vigorous manner, because he is bending over to wrestle with you. He has an eager look on his face, because he wants to win the match. You can see that he is looking right at you, and not going to let you get away, because you are his buddy. This scene is all done with good humor in mind, because there is nothing better than good friends.

Male Figure Pen & Ink Drawing #313Z

The image in the drawing is done with both contour lines, and hatched lines, because I use these to capture the architecture of his body. Emphasis has been place on his pectorals, because they are the most architecturally significant element of his physique. I have placed little detailing on his hands because they are moving, because moving objects are a bit blurry.

Sea Of Gibber

Lake Of Lies

The fight against fraud, and lies has been a campaign of my life, because I will not have anything to do with swindlers. Cheats, liars, and felons come in every shape, color, race, and religion, because I have witnessed them all. You would think that at the country club that you would be safe from swindlers, because these are the “right people”, and safe. Then enters Bernie Madoff to the Palm Beach Country Club with his lies, because he cheated good, and honest people out of millions of dollars.

Pencil Rendering For The Sea Of Gibber

Above is my pencil drawing of a house sinking on the sandy shores of the Sea of Gibber, because it is giving the image of the results of liars. When you listen to Theologians, Politicians, and Academicians, be careful, because most of them have an agenda to push, and at your expense.

The best, and smartest thing to do to avoid trouble from these swindlers is to demand from them the facts that support their claims, because then they will wither away like the Wicked Witch of the West with a bucket of water upon trying to get around them.

The Assumption Of The Virgin By El Greco

Mythological Art

A painting that I have never liked, but needs to be addressed, because it is the greatest Old Masters work in the Art Institute of Chicago. Having graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, this painting holds a special place in my heart, because I have grown up with it.

Cupid Chastised

This painting is adjacent my favorite work of are in the Art Institute of Chicago, Bartolomeo Manfredi’s Cupid Chastised, because they are close in time period.

Elongation

The painting is of the post-Renaissance Period, or Mannerist, because they distort images. The painting is weak in that it is really two paintings in one. The upper section is the image of the Virgin being assumed, because she does not ever die. The lower section is of the astonished apostles, because they are beholding a miracle.

Half Moon

The image of the Virgin being lifted on a halfmoon is almost comical, as the Church Fathers, being inspired by God, should have known that the moon is round.

Colors

The tone is moribund even though there is full spectrum of color, because all the tones are imbued with gray.

Nude Male Pen & Ink Figure Drawing

Male Torso

This is a Classic pose for a young male figure drawing, because it shows the image of the head down to the abdomen. The young man is set up against a wall, and looking away, because he does not want to distract you. The boy is in his late teens, because his pectorals are firm, and is face is not yet fully developed.

Pencil Drawing

The drawing was started with a light pencil sketch, because I use this as a guide for my pen & ink. If you look closely you can see the pencil lines. I use a soft lead for the sketch, because this does not interfere with the pen & ink.

Pen & Ink Drawings With Prints & Scans

The pen & ink lines gently go over the pencil sketch, because this is the path for the ink. I do not trace over the pencil line, because that would limit my creative process. The shadows of the figure are made with light hatching, and cross-hatching lines, because hatch lines make a nice shade & shadow format. I have not used any bold contour line in this pen & ink drawing, because I wanted the hatched lines to carry the figure’s beauty.

Jail Bait

Prison Lure

With the advent of Grindr, Gaydar, and other on-line hookup apps, crime is on the rise, because there is a lot of drugs, and illegal sex taking place. As each day passes more, and more sex crimes are being committed, because of on-line hookups. Young people are meeting on-line, and hooking with strangers, because they want to get out.

Pencil Drawing

Above is my pencil drawing a young gay man that is a victim of “jail bait”, and is now paying the price behind bars, because he was not careful. If you look closely at the drawing you can see my pencil lines under the ink, because this is my guide for the ink. I have make a point to put tenderness in his eyes, because he is the victim of wrong doers.

Fell In Love

Sexual Desire Not Love

Sex has nothing to do with love, because it is carnal, not ethereal. Sexual activity is a physical activity used for procreation, because that is the rule of Nature. Procreation, and sex are physical, because you can touch them. Love, on the other hand is ethereal, because you cannot touch it.

Relationships

When a young couple get together to enjoy physical activity, that is sex, not love, because it is carnal. This is true of both gay and straight relationships.

Call A Spade A Spade

Do not swindle yourself, or others, by trying to convince them that you love them, because underneath it all, you want the sex.

Romeo & Juliet

If Juliet were 300 lbs., Romeo would have been long gone. Further, if Juliet were 300 lbs., Romeo would never even have looked at her. So much for their love.

Pencil Drawing

The drawing of the two gay lovers above has a pencil sketch beneath, because this is my guide for the pen & ink.

Dreams

Nightmares

Dreams are meant to wake you up, because they always occur in the morning just before you wake. Further, for the most part dreams are not comforting, because they have you in a strange environment.

Watercolor Skyline

Above is my watercolor skyline of Chicago at sunset, because it is blurry and misty. I thought that this would be a good image to show, because it is vague, and mysterious.

Sigmund Freud is the first person to seriously analyze the substance of dreams, because he was a Psychiatrist. Further, Freud used clinical studies, and exams to learn more about dreams, because we wanted to cure human mental illness. The bottom lines is that we are scared of the unknown, and dreams are putting us in the midst of the unknown while we are “conscious” of it.

In my observations, and readings the best way to have a good sleep is to live a healthy, and sound life, because this works on your subconscious. If you eat well, and exercise often it will positively affect your sleep, and you will not have nightmares, or disconcerting thoughts before you wake up.
