Celebrity

This celebrity rendering of Matthew McConaughey is done in black pen & ink. There is very little hatching in the celebrity portrait because I wanted the contour lines to do most of the work. The contour lines nice outline the head and face of the celebrity and then I fill in the other details with complimenting lines.

Drawing Characteristics

Characteristics of this celebrity draw are the alignment of the contour lines with the inner lines. The inner lines are the ones that fill in the details of the over-all drawing. They are not hatched or cross-hatched lines, because they do not directly intersect with the contour lines. In places like his hair you can see the inner lines flowing over the contours lines, but they are not hatched. Hatched and cross-hatched lines are used for shade and shadows. Hatched lines work best on darker subjects.
