When I saw the photo and all of the high contrast I took immediate interest in the figure. However, I knew that I did not want to go overboard with hatched and cross-hatched lines. Because this kind of an image lends itself to going into infinite detail on hatching and that is not what I wanted to do. Rather, I wanted to use hatch lines in a way that did not go into excess. That is hard to accomplish on a drawing like this because of all the dark areas.

There are hatched lines in areas of shade and shadows but for the most part the drawing is really a contour drawing. I have made the line work playful and loose rather than tight and binding because that makes work on the eyes. For me the greatest pleasure in art is to just simply enjoy it. I do not like to draw tedious and complex images that people have trouble understanding.

Phallus Cutting Board Stylus Sketch

In this comical drawing as a parody on gay torture, because the theme is whimsical. I have a fully enlarged penis being cut into small pieces, because it is a frightening concept.
