Chicago River
The Chicago River is just above the park shown at the bottom of the watercolor. The Chicago River flows under the bridge over Michigan Avenue. The colors of the river are in the blue and green ranges for the tones on the Wrigley Building #120A.
The Wrigley Building is considered by many as the most beautiful building in Chicago. It has been a Chicago landmark for decades and is the entry to Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. Because of the night lights on the gleaming white building was the hallmark of north Michigan Avenue. Most importantly this building is the entry to north Michigan Avenue. Across the river were large flood lights that cast large volumes of bright light on the building. The building glowed in the dark because of the lights making a wonderful image for the cityscape. As time passed the flood lights were replaced with a lower wattage series of bulbs, therefore dimming the brightness.
Wrigley Building #120A is a pen & ink watercolor drawing with prints by artist Stephen F. Condren.
