Celebrity
This celebrity rendering of the Wicked Witch of the West is a multi-color pen & ink drawing. Margaret Hamilton is the actress that play the historic performance of the Wicked Witch of the West. In the beginning I did a preliminary sketch in pencil because it works as a guide for the pen & ink that follows. When you put the ink down it is permanent because pen & ink is very unforgiving. If you make a mistake with the pen & inks it is over.
Wicked Witch 369A
The celebrity drawing is done in fine point pen nibs that offer the thinnest lines. Thin lines are important in a celebrity drawing because they can show all the details of the image.
Drawing Characteristics
Characteristics of this celebrity drawing are the many different colors of ink on a black dress. I made a point of not making the enter gown of the witch in black. Even though the material is solid black, it would not render well as a drawing. To make the drawing work you have to show the folds in the material of the gown. Thus the colors are the solution for showing this imagery. I have used light color for the lighted areas because they suggest light.
