Tucson skyline drawing #31A, is a pen & ink rendering by artist Stephen Condren, BFA, SAIC, of Condren Galleries. The line work on this rendering captures the image of the skyline tucked into the steps of the mountains.
The mountains are very linear so as to bring the focal point to the buildings that comprise the skyline. With the thin lines of the mountains, it was easy to tuck the structures into the arms of the landscape. The tick to the rendering is to offer a pleasing perspective. The lines are note thick but rather they are fine. If I were to use a thick line and perhaps a bamboo tip it would have a totally different look to it. Since the cityscape is small there is no need to intensify the delineation of the rendering.

The skyline is basically in the center of the rendering as it vanishes into the lap of the mountains and bends upward to the right side. What I like best about this drawing is the use of the fine line work. I am made it a point to capture all the structural detail.
