Phoenix skyline watercolor painting of downtown with mountains. The Phoenix, Arizona, cityscape is a breath-taking site as it rests in front of the mountains in the distance. The largest city in Arizona as well as one of the largest cities in the country Phoenix is truly a wonderful city. Phoenix though it is a very large city does not have the tower skyscrapers that you associate with a city of this size, it is more like it’s big sister to the west, Los Angeles, in that it is spread out rather than up.
The mountains in this region of the country are more arid and thus have less greenery. You can see from the cityscape that the mountains make and excellent backdrop to the rendering. This is because they are ruddy and bring warmth to the painting.
