Downtown Skyscrapers
Los Angeles skyline watercolor painting of downtown at sunset by skyline artist Stephen F. Condren, BFA-SAIC. This wonderful watercolor of Los Angeles, California, shows a spectacular sunset with the city’s towering skyscrapers making a silhouette in the last moments of the setting sun. In the painting I have utilized watercolors, pen & color ink along with black inks and both watercolor pencils and dry color pencils. I started the drawing out with a B6 lead and then started the composition with dry color pencils. Then I continued drawing with watercolor pencils after which I applied watercolor paints over the pencil drawings. After this I gathered numerous colored inks and crosshatched these tones into the shadows of the work, particularly with the clouds and sky behind.
