City Scene

This city scene rendering shows an “L” train stopped at a platform to move passengers. The time of day is evening because it is dark outside. This city scene drawing has two people on the platform because they are to the right of the train. A pedestrian walk is shown above the train, because it high in the drawing. The wheels of the train cannot be seen because they are cover by pad shields. The angle of the canopy rooves is 45 degrees. It is nighttime but the lights over the tracks illuminate the area because the lights are bright. The train is at the center of the drawing because it is the subject of the rendering. I have used horizontal lines to make the night sky, because they are close together. Images of skyscrapers can be seen above the train in Chicago “L” Train 258A.

Chicago “L” Train 255A

The city scene drawing is done with pen & ink on Strathmore paper. Hatched lines have been used to make shade and shadows in this city scene drawing. The hatched lines are done vertically as well as horizontally for align with the buildings. The rooves of the two platform canopies are done on an angle because they are hip rooves. The lines of the train and track run on an angle to the vanishing point on the left side of the drawing. This city scene drawing is a 2-point perspective rendering because all of the lines vanish to two points. All lines that are perpendicular to the picture plane vanish to a vanishing point because this is the law of perspective.
