This drawing is a study in contour lines. If you look closely I did not make use of many hatch lines, just enough to show the depth of the image. Most of this drawing is done in contour lines with accents on body joints, and folds in their clothing. Since this is an action scene, I was more concerned with the movement of the figures rather than the details of the face and bodies. I had thought about putting images from the surrounding ring in the drawing but I decided against it because it would clutter up the view.

This fine pen & ink drawing of Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather shows the two men heated up and face to face for the boxing match that is to come. This is one of the most highly anticipated events to come along for both celebrities in a long time. It was interesting to see how it all built up before the boxing match.

Logan Paul is a boxer, but a difficult match for the world champion, Floyd Mayweather. Further, Logan Paul is not in shape as he would be had he been actively in the boxing ring. Logan Paul is a fit and good looking man, no doubt, but hot as fit at these full-time boxers are.

This fine pen & ink drawing of Warren Buffett is a contour line rendering. I did not want to copy a photograph of Warren because that offers nothing. If you want to copy a photo then why waste your time? The way an artist should approach a photo is to abstract from it. A photo always gives a better image of the subject, but now always the right mood. When I abstract his image from a photo I treat his as though he is sitting right before me. I want to capture his image not copy it.

The drawing lends itself nicely to a black pen & ink rendering because of the lighting gives nice shading. There is too much darkness on the left side of the photo so omitted it. My focus was on the delineation of his face. If you look carefully you can see that I have omitted key points that are clear in a photograph, like his glasses and hair. His hair is just touched on without much line work to show it, and his left eye glass is missing the connection to the nose piece.

This fine pen & ink drawing of Zac Efron is a simple contour line drawing. I did not want to make this a detail rendering of the celebrity because it would miss the point. Often the best drawings are the simple ones. Doing a detailed drawing filled with hatched lines can be an excellent account of how to draft with a pen or pencil but can not always capture the image. To capture the image or essence of the subject is the most important thing for any artist to do.

The drawing lends itself nicely to a black pen & ink rendering because of the lighting in the photo. Many photos do not do well for artists to draw from because of the lighting. Generally, I prefer some contrast to the image so that I can put shade and shadows to bring out the character of the celebrity. The worst photos are when the light are directly in front of the fact or torso of the celebrity, because it makes everything flat.

The smooth Strathmore paper is best for this kind of drawing because there are not paper fragments that clog the pen while you draw. A medium grade paper can cause clogging and spots to form as you draw.

If you look carefully you can see that there is a lot of space in between the lines because this gives “breathing” room for the eye to explore. Too much detail, or too many lines can make a drawing confusing and difficult to understand.

However, I did not want to make a detailed and tedious rendering. Rather, I wanted a fresh and free flowing work of art. I do not ever copy photos, because that is mindless, boring work. The celebrated pop singer Justin Bieber has been in the lime light for some time now. For years he has been the heart throb for millions of his fans. He is very handsome and talented. My only regrets with him are the tattoos that he has covered he whole body with. The day will come when he will regret having scarred his body with these mutilations of the body. The photo that I used to drawing his portrait from is nice in that there are none of the glaring tattoos on it. There is one small vertical tattoo that runs up along the back of his neck, and seems to be a Japanese Kanji.

This drawing is a pen & ink rendering of Canadian superstar singer, Justin Bieber. In the drawing he is looking straight at you and with a most questioning stare. He is wearing a hoody that is open so you can see all of his head. This celebrity drawing is a study in contour lines because I did not want to you hatched lines. When you use hatched lines that means that you are putting more data on the paper, and that data can be wrong. Further, celebrity drawings look best when they are simple, because you need to see and recognize who it is. Hatching a drawing too much can make the drawing dark and too complicated. When you look at the drawing it is like a Mozart symphony, simple and light.

The celebrated Australian actor Liam Hemsworth is the oldest of the three Hemsworth brothers. I was very impressed with the photo that was taken of him, and that I have used for this drawing. In the photo the background room is all black and the shadows are also on the edge of his face. Another feature that I liked are his beautiful round eyes. You can see the likeness in all three boys, however Luke is the shortest and has the roundest eyes. The look that he is giving to you is spell binding. There is a magic in his eyes that keep you looking at him, almost as though he is speaking to you.

This drawing is a pen & ink portrait of Liam Hemsworth the boy of the Hemsworth. The drawing is a pen & ink rendering of Liam Hemsworth the oldest of the Hemsworth boys. I have made this a light pen & ink drawing rather than a dark and intense work of art. The dark background on the photo really called me and so later I will do other drawings from this photo that are more dramatic. This drawing is basically done with contour lines and a mild amount of hatched lines. Since I am not doing the dark shadowed drawing that the photo bespeaks I had to adjust the line work. If I attempted to draw in the graduated light from his right side it would look awkward. This is because you need a lot of hatching to carry out all of the graduated shading.

Liam Hemsworth is the youngest brother of the Hemsworth boys. Along with his other two brothers he is enjoying a very nice celebrity status. Though he is from Australia, he is spending more and more time in Hollywood. This drawing is a close-up face portrait of Liam, because his shoulders are not seen. It is difficult to know which of the three boys is the most popular, but it does not really matter.

This drawing is a pen & ink rendering of Liam Hemsworth the boy of the Hemsworth boys. This is a nice pen & ink drawing of his face because it is using both contour lines and hatched lines to make the image. To make an outline of a figure it is best to use contour lines. Contour lines are usually lines that are drawn on the perimeter of the image with a continuous flow. In other words, the contour line does not stop or break. Whereas the hatched lines are shorter lines that are in rows and quickly drawing.

In this rendering I have nicely put contour lines with hatched lines to make the portrait. The right side of this drawing is in partial shade, so I have used some hatched lines to make the shading and shadows. However, this is not the strongest shading that you can get. Over all the drawing is in full light. The best and most dramatic renderings have high contrast lighting to offer deep shade and shadows that can be drawn with a lot of hatched lines.
