Cityscape Art

This cityscape rendering is a multi color pen & ink drawing of Chicago at sunset. The cityscape drawing show the sun setting on the left side of the drawing because it has the yellow ink lines. On the right side of the cityscape drawing it is dark blue because this is the night sky coming in.

Hatched lines were used to make the skyscrapers in this cityscape drawing because they show the form. The line work that makes up the water and sky is a woven pattern because I wanted to integrate the colors of the spectrum. It is important to have all of your color evenly distributed throughout a drawing because it gives cohesiveness to the work of art.

The grass is not green and the sky is not blue because they are really a mix of many colors. Upon closer look and color in a fabric or hard surface, you can see the variations of colors in every inch. This cityscape drawing brings in all the tones of color in my pallet. The more that you use the colors on your pallet the better your work will look.

Chicago Skyline 286A

The cityscape drawing is viewed from Lake Michigan looking west. Yellow dominates the left side of the drawing because it is sunset. Red, yellow, green, brown, and orange colored inks were used to make this cityscape rendering.

Yellow dominate the left side of the drawing because of the sunset. You can see traces of yellow on the right side but much less because of the darkness coming in. There is more blue ink on the right side because of the nighttime sky.
