TarnHelm

Der Ring Des Nibelungen

In the legend of the Nibelungen Lieder, Mime fashions the TarnHelm out of the gold that Albrecht has stolen from the Rheinmadens. The image of the tarnhelm that I have chosen stems from one of my favorite record covers of Die Walkure This image on the cover show the brass helmet with wings fashioned on each side elegantly lifting upwards. It rests on a table with fire in the background denoting the Magic Fire Music which closes the music drama of the opera.

Since the age of 14, when I purchased my first recording of Richard Wager highlights for General Music Store on 71st Street in South Shore. The moment that I heard the music of Tannhauser I was hooked for life, and I am still there. There is so much that I can say about the music of Richard Wagner, as so many have done. However, I would like to say for me, that the music of Wagner, more than any other composer hits home to my very soul. There is nothing that speaks to me more deeply than the music of Richard Wagner.
