Description
Tucson skyline drawing #33A, is a pen & ink cityscape rendering by artist and United States Navy Veteran, Stephen F. Condren, BFA, SAIC, of Condren Galleries offering prints. This is a simple delineation of the skyline rather than a detailed rendering. I wanted to capture the essence of the city in the calculated lines.
This is a very nice and simple rendering of the Tucson skyline. I have made it point to be minimalist in my approach to the subject. Unlike my other renderings of the Tucson skyline, in this drawing I have made use of the essential design of the composition. I did not want to get all involved with the many details of the buildings. Rather, I wanted to juxtapose the skyline with the mountainous landscape that surrounds this lovely city.
The mountains are rendered in a linear manner rather than with shade and shadows. My reasoning was not to swallow up the city structures with a lot of hatching, and cross-hatching from the mountains. With the mountains rendered in a linear fashion, they nice work together with the buildings of the skyline. Had I put a lot of detail in the mountains they would have covered out the buildings and all that you would really see are the mountains. Tucson skyline drawing #33A is a pen & ink rendering and prints.
