Cityscape
This cityscape rendering is a pen & ink drawing of the Chicago skyline at night. Colors used were orange, red, and blue because they are strong. A fine and medium pen tips were used to draw the cityscape. The rendering shows the reflection of the cityscape in the waters of Lake Michigan below.
Hatched lines were used extensively in this cityscape drawing. The hatched lines for the skyscrapers are vertical. Hatched lines are excellent for making shade and shadows with pen & ink drawing because the offer a lot of ink. When you hatch the lines together closely it makes the drawing darker. When you put more space between the lines the drawing becomes lighter. The most popular cityscape drawings have a lot of hatched lines.
Chicago Skyline 297A
The cityscape drawing shows seen from Monroe Harbor on Lake Michigan. Monroe Harbor has a shoreline along Grant Park in downtown Chicago. This view of the downtown cityscape is a very popular view because of the angle. On the left side of the cityscape is Willis Tower that has 108 floors. On the right side of the cityscape is the St. Regis which has 101 floors. In the center of the rendering are the Aon Center with 80 floors and Trump Tower with 98 floors.
