Cityscape
Chicago skyline watercolor of the near north side at sunset by skyline artist Stephen F. Condren, BFA-SAIC. This watercolor of Chicago, Illinois, is done at dusk with the flames of the last glowing rays of light flickering in the sunset. The view is from Burnham Harbor looking north towards Randolph Street where you can see the Aon Center and Two Prudential Plaza; in the background you can see the outline of the John Hancock Center.
Chicago Skyline #783A
The beauty in this cityscape is the wonderful sunset coming in from the left, because if the muted yellows and browns. In the lower portion of the cityscape you can see the skyscrapers reflecting in the water. The colors of the sunset show very nicely in the reflection, because I have used the same color above. Delineation is the key feature of this cityscape because it is very subtle. Unlike most skyline renderings, this cityscape has very few ink lines and relies other watercolor for the tones.
