Description
Chicago skyline 226A pen & ink cityscape drawing of skyscrapers in the Loop from Lake Michigan by artist Stephen Condren, BFA, SAIC.
Cityscape
This cityscape rendering is of the Loop from Monroe Harbor because we are out in the water. The view is looking west from Lake Michigan because you can see the skyscrapers on Michigan Avenue. This cityscape drawing offers a nice view of the central business district. Streeterville has tall buildings but is not in the Loop. The Loop is the central business district of Chicago.
Chicago skyline 226A
The cityscape drawing is done with pen & ink because they show architecture elements clearly. Hatched lines were used to show shading in the skyscrapers. There were no cross-hatched lines because there are no shadows. This cityscape drawing is done with free-hand so the lines are not perfectly straight. Free-hand drawing are very popular.
