Description
Chicago Skyline 206A pen & ink cityscape drawing by artist Stephen Condren, BFA, SAIC.
Cityscape
This cityscape drawing is of Chicago overlooking Lake Michigan from Burnham Harbor. The cityscape is done with contour lines, because they outline the skyscrapers. At the bottom of the row of buildings are the trees from Grant Park. On the right side of the trees is Millennium park where many children play, because of Crown Fountain. The trees of Grant Park do not have ink because they support the skyscrapers. The Loop is at the very center of the cityscape drawing because that is the central business district.
Chicago Skyline 206A
The cityscape drawing is done with pen & ink with a medium pen. Pen & ink cityscape drawings give a clean appearance to the skyscrapers because they are linear. The sky of this cityscape drawing is done with vertical ink line because it is the sunset. At the bottom of the rendering is Lake Michigan. On the left side of the drawing is the Conrad Hilton Hotel and on the far right side is the Aon Center. The tallest building in the drawing is Willis Tower. Pen & ink nicely bring out the form of the skyscrapers because you can name each one.
