Cityscape
This cityscape rendering is a study in contour drawing with black lines because this is architectural. Cityscape drawing require sharp and clear lines because the buildings are straight. The more lines that you add to a cityscape drawing the more complicated it gets because it is tedious. All of the contour lines are kept far apart to keep the outline of the skyscrapers clear.
Chicago Skyline 195A
The cityscape drawing is done with an ink well pen and black India ink, because this renders lines clearly. There is very little to no shading in the drawing because it is all contour lines. The most basic forms of the buildings are delineated for the cityscape drawing. I made use of hatched lines to fill in the details between the skyscrapers. The line weight is medium to support the contour lines in this cityscape drawing. The inner space of the skyscrapers is the most important spatial element of the drawing.
