Description
Chicago “L” train 251A red pen & ink city scene drawing of an elevated train coming out of an underpass by Stephen Condren, BFA, SAIC.
City Scene
This city scene rendering show “L” train is heading south, because you can see Willis Tower from behind. There is no end to the train in this city scene drawing because the tail of the train is still in the underpass. The train shown in this city scene is a more current model of car because it is made of aluminum and glass. The road that is behind the underpass is Congress Blvd because you can see the old Post Office Building on the far right. This city scene shows the old Post Office from the south face because we are looking north. The old Post Office has been sold and converted to condominiums and office space.
Chicago “L” Train 251A
The city scene drawing is done with red pen & ink on Strathmore paper. The ink used is Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bombay Red ink, because it is posted on the label. Hatched lines have been used to give shade and shadow to this city scene drawing. Cross-hatching was not used at all because it would make the drawing too dark. The time of day is in the afternoon and there is no need for dark shade or shadows.
