Chicago Skyline #222A
The drawing of the Chicago skyline is taken from Lake Michigan because that is in the front of the drawing. The Adler Planetarium is close because it is a point far east of the downtown area. You can see the center of the city from Roosevelt Road up to Randolph Street because it is on the left side. Skyscrapers such as the Willis Tower, Aon Center, and Trump Tower can be seen in the center. Chicago is the largest city in Illinois and the third largest city in the United States.
Of course, there many views that can be taken of the Chicago skyline, because this view is the most popular. So many people like this view because it has remained the staple many years. Another excellent view, is of course, looking south onto North Lake Shore Drive. This view gives you a great shot of the near north side dominated by 875 N. Michigan Avenue, the former John Hancock Center.
However, no matter how good the other view may be, because this is the best view. I have done many renderings of the near north side, to be sure. But the focus of the Chicago skyline remains firmly rooted in the lap of Burnham Harbor because of Lake Michigan.
