Description
Bar scene #126A pencil tavern drawing, which is a barroom stylus sketch, which is for sale here, at discount with prints by artist and United States Navy Veteran, Stephen F. Condren, BFA, SAIC, of Condren Galleries, a Fine Arts Gallery, offering JPEG & PDF scans. The drawings are done live, right on the spot, in free-hand as people are talking, drinking, and dancing.
However, this live action pencil drawing takes place in the back bar at Phoenix Night Club in Elk Grove Village near Chicago. The mood is subtle because there are few people in the bar scene. This is because it is earlier in the evening and the crowds do not start coming in until later. However, this is often a very good thing as it give me opportunity to focus on other elements around the night club.
Because of the lack of people in the image I have focused on the surroundings of the bar. In the front are tables and chair, and because I am close you cannot see the umbrella overhead. Therefore, I have put the people in the center and let the bar act as a visual support for the image. Since pencil lends itself to quick drawing and not because it is black but rather it is dry. If however, I were to use pen & ink there would be a good chance that the ink would smear.
