Figure Drawing Genres
Below are three links to genres of drawing genres that I have done to help you understand my process:

- Color & lead pencil illustrations: Â #312A
- Watercolors and tempera: Â #1253A
Figure
This drawing is of a young male USA gymnast stretching over the parallel bars because he wants to be in the Olympics. You can see that he has aligned himself because he is perfectly aligned with the bars from his sides, a perfect parallel.
I have used contour lines to draw the image of the gymnast because they show the outline of the figure. To capture the shade and shadows of the hot gymnast, I have used fine hatched and cross-hatched lines.
The gymnast has short hair and is clean shaven because he likes to be well-groomed. His rectus abdominis is firm and his linea albo runs deeply from his pectoralis majors down to his inguinal ligaments.
Gay Gymnast Swinging
The rendering of the young man is done on white Strathmore drawing paper because it is smooth. I started the drawing with a light sketch using a 6B lead pencil because it was needed for the sketches. This is a nice soft lead that lets you see all of the line because it is a soft lead and therefor it is dark. It is important not to press down hard on the pencil, because it will make a dark line that you cannot erase. Further, my practice is to never use an eraser because it smears on the paper.
Drawing Characteristics
Figure
Characteristics of this figure drawing are the dark contour lines that I have placed all around the rendering because they are dark.
Photographs & Image
Photos can be found on the Internet by searching for parallel bars gymnasts because they are popular.
