The celebrated pop singer Justin Bieber has been in the lime light for some time now. For years he has been the heart throb for millions of his fans. He is very handsome and talented. My only regrets with him are the tattoos that he has covered he whole body with. The day will come when he will regret having scarred his body with these mutilations of the body. The photo that I used to drawing his portrait from is nice in that there are none of the glaring tattoos on it. There is one small vertical tattoo that runs up along the back of his neck, and seems to be a Japanese Kanji.

This drawing is a pen & ink rendering of Canadian superstar singer, Justin Bieber. In the drawing he is looking straight at you and with a most questioning stare. He is wearing a hoody that is open so you can see all of his head. This celebrity drawing is a study in contour lines because I did not want to you hatched lines. When you use hatched lines that means that you are putting more data on the paper, and that data can be wrong. Further, celebrity drawings look best when they are simple, because you need to see and recognize who it is. Hatching a drawing too much can make the drawing dark and too complicated. When you look at the drawing it is like a Mozart symphony, simple and light.

The celebrated Australian actor Liam Hemsworth is the oldest of the three Hemsworth brothers. I was very impressed with the photo that was taken of him, and that I have used for this drawing. In the photo the background room is all black and the shadows are also on the edge of his face. Another feature that I liked are his beautiful round eyes. You can see the likeness in all three boys, however Luke is the shortest and has the roundest eyes. The look that he is giving to you is spell binding. There is a magic in his eyes that keep you looking at him, almost as though he is speaking to you.

This drawing is a pen & ink portrait of Liam Hemsworth the boy of the Hemsworth. The drawing is a pen & ink rendering of Liam Hemsworth the oldest of the Hemsworth boys. I have made this a light pen & ink drawing rather than a dark and intense work of art. The dark background on the photo really called me and so later I will do other drawings from this photo that are more dramatic. This drawing is basically done with contour lines and a mild amount of hatched lines. Since I am not doing the dark shadowed drawing that the photo bespeaks I had to adjust the line work. If I attempted to draw in the graduated light from his right side it would look awkward. This is because you need a lot of hatching to carry out all of the graduated shading.

Liam Hemsworth is the youngest brother of the Hemsworth boys. Along with his other two brothers he is enjoying a very nice celebrity status. Though he is from Australia, he is spending more and more time in Hollywood. This drawing is a close-up face portrait of Liam, because his shoulders are not seen. It is difficult to know which of the three boys is the most popular, but it does not really matter.

This drawing is a pen & ink rendering of Liam Hemsworth the boy of the Hemsworth boys. This is a nice pen & ink drawing of his face because it is using both contour lines and hatched lines to make the image. To make an outline of a figure it is best to use contour lines. Contour lines are usually lines that are drawn on the perimeter of the image with a continuous flow. In other words, the contour line does not stop or break. Whereas the hatched lines are shorter lines that are in rows and quickly drawing.

In this rendering I have nicely put contour lines with hatched lines to make the portrait. The right side of this drawing is in partial shade, so I have used some hatched lines to make the shading and shadows. However, this is not the strongest shading that you can get. Over all the drawing is in full light. The best and most dramatic renderings have high contrast lighting to offer deep shade and shadows that can be drawn with a lot of hatched lines.

Chris Hemsworth is a famous movie star and celebrity known by many people all over the world. He also has a very famous brother, Liam Hemsworth, who I have done a drawing of as well. The claim to fame for Chris Hemsworth is his strapping good looks. He is very handsome and has a very sexy body that looks great on the beach or anywhere that he goes.

This drawing is a pen & ink rendering of Chris Hemsworth. The drawing is a study of contour lines because it is focused on the perimeter of the image and not the detailing of the interior. When I start the drawing I do a light pencil sketch with a 6B lead. This is a soft lead that nicely shows the lines that I make on the paper. It is very important not to press too hard on the pencil because it will make the lines too dark and then they will compete with the pen & ink that follows.

The lighting on the photo that I used to make this drawing was from the front, so there are no deep shadows on the left or right side. I had to be careful not to make this look like a flat drawing, because this happens when the lighting offers no character to the image. There are a few hatched lines in the drawing on the right side to pic up some of the shadow that was available. The neck tie was of course done with hatched lines, but that has to do with texture and not shading.

In this drawing of Leonardo DiCaprio I have made my focus on the contour lines because they bring out the full image. When you add more lines to a drawing you make the work a more complex thing. However, if you can express the sense of the image with just a few lines, then you have become the master. When you put a lot of lines on the paper you loose the sense of continuity of the subject, and you busy it all up.

When you are using shade and shadows you need to use hatched lines when working with pen & ink because you cannot draw a range with a pen line. The image of an ink line is very high contrast, and very unforgiving. The moment that you put that ink on the paper you have to be careful. One drop of ink in the eye or other crucial spot can ruin the drawing.

This pen & ink drawing is done on Strathmore paper because it is able to take lighting from scans. In other words, when I finish a drawing, I make a PDF scan of it and the put it on my website. If the paper is not of the highest quality the drawing or image will be too light after you post it too your website. The drawing looks light at the edges rather than sharp like they should. I did not know this until I figured it out by myself. When I had just tested out a new kind of paper I noticed the image was not good. I looked at the paper and it seemed fine. But the paper has too many chemicals in it which make the light of the scan flaw up and cause brightness distortion on the image.

Jake Gyllenhaal is an outstanding celebrity actor and a great human being. Unlike so many celebrities Jake is a man of the people because he has his feet firmly planted on the ground.

This drawing of Jake is a pen & ink drawing on Strathmore paper. The lines that are used for the drawing are contour lines, because they outline his face and body. I did not make use of hatched lines because the darken the image. I wanted this to be a light and fresh rendering.

His hair line is the only thing that is a bit funny to me because it reminds me of Wolfman. In fact Jack has the same hair line as Eddie Munster from the famous TV series “The Munsters”. Putting all jest aside, Jade is a very handsome man and he looks great for his age. He works out and takes care of his appearance.

Above all things Jake Gyllenhaal is a wonderful and down to earth human being, and what more can anyone ask for?
