Figure
This figure drawing is of a gymnast on a horse bench is making a rapid turn.
Gymnast 419A
The rendering of the young man at the parallel bars is a simple line drawing because the figure is simple. I used a fine point pen nib to make the drawing because I need good details. It is always difficult to draw moving figures because you have to catch the movement when there is none. I did not want to use extended line strokes outside of the figure because that would make it look like a cartoon, or catalogue illustration.
Drawing Characteristics
Figure
Characteristics of this drawing are the lines because they have to be hatched to have shading. Since the gymnast has his left hand blocked by his legs it looks like I forgot to draw it because he is moving. However, I did a study of this, and it showed that it was best to leave it the way it is because it is putting his left hand in would distort the drawing.
