Chicago Skyline Pen & Ink Drawing At Night #748A
This Chicago skyline #748A pen & ink sketch is by skyline artist Stephen F. Condren, BFA-SAIC. This drawing is the culminating of Chicago Skyline #747A. The task of this drawing was to capture the light of the night time cityscape with hatching and cross-hatching lines. The pen & ink perfectly lends itself to this kind of work. What I am always trying to perfect is the luminosity from the street upward on to the buildings. This is a very difficult task to manage because the buildings lose lumens at they rise but not structure. If I were to merely hatch my way up the structures then all of the tops of the buildings would look smooth and soft.
