Chicago skyline 283A pen & ink drawing is cityscape art of downtown skyscrapers on Lake Michigan by Stephen Condren.
Cityscape Art
This cityscape rendering is a pen & ink of downtown Chicago overlooking Lake Michigan. We are looking west right on Monroe Harbor because it feeds into Lake Michigan. Hatched lines where used to make the form of the skyscrapers in this cityscape. The center of this rendering shows the famous Chicago Loop and to the right at the Aon Center is East Randolph Street.
East Randolph Street has some of the tallest buildings in the country because of the tower skyscrapers located there. To the right of the Aon Center is the St. Regis which has 101 floors and is the third tallest building in Chicago. The Aon Center looks taller than Trump Tower because it is closer to the shoreline. Grant Park trees are at the base of the skyscrapers with give a soft touch to the rendering. The landscaping is the only element that uses both cursive and hatched lines to delineate their form.
Chicago Skyline 283A
The cityscape drawing makes has made of flowing lines to make the motion of the waves in the water. Lake Michigan is at the bottom of this cityscape because it acts as a support to the skyline above. The delineation of the sky is similar to the water because I wanted to keep the lines parallel.
