Description
Chicago skyline 288A pen & ink cityscape drawing of downtown skyscrapers at sunset by Stephen Condren.
Cityscape
This cityscape rendering is a pen & ink drawing on the shores of Lake Michigan. Hatched lines were used to make the skyscrapers because they offer vertical lines. This cityscape is done in free-hand because it is a work of Fine Art. The line work of the cityscape is fine and clean because it shows the architecture. A fine point Speedball 512 pen nib was used to make this rendering because it does not drip ink. Care is taken when making the ink lines because any quick motion from the hand will force the pen to spill ink on the paper.
Chicago Skyline 288A
The cityscape drawing is a view of the Chicago Loop and East Randolph Street. Willis Tower is the tallest building on the left because it has 108 floors. The St. Regis is the tallest building on the right because it has 101 floors. Aon Center in the middle of the cityscape has 80 floors. Trump Tower is the second tallest building in Chicago with 98 floors.
The Chicago Loop has the tallest buildings in Chicago because this is the central business district. East Randolph Street and Streeterville are the two other sections of the city that have tall skyscrapers. The St. Regis is on East Randolph and the former John Hancock Center is on North Michigan Avenue.
