Description
Chicago skyline 244A pen & ink cityscape drawing of skyscrapers in the downtown Loop by Stephen Condren, BFA, SAIC.
Cityscape
This cityscape rendering is of downtown Chicago overlooking Monroe Harbor. The central block of the drawing is the Loop because this has all of the tall skyscrapers of the cityscape. The tallest building in the drawing is Willis Tower on the left. To the far right is the Aon Center with 80 stories because it is the third tallest building in Chicago. The waters of Lake Michigan are done with flowing lines at the bottom of the cityscape. Medium size pen tip is used for the delineation of this cityscape drawing because it offers good contour lines. Contour lines are used to delineate the form of the larger skyscrapers. Each of the large buildings can be identified because they are clearly rendered with contour lines.
Chicago Skyline 244A
The cityscape drawing is done in pen & ink on paper. Hatched lines are used to make the shade and shadows of the architecture for this cityscape rendering. The drawing is done in free-and because it is not an architectural rendering. This cityscape is a work of Fine Art because it is not intended for commercial purposes. The line work is loose and fresh because it is free from rulers and straight edges.
