Chicago skyline 290A multi-color pen & ink cityscape drawing of downtown skyscrapers at sunset by Stephen Condren.
Cityscape
This cityscape rendering is a multi-colored pen & ink drawing of Chicago at sunset on Lake Michigan. There are many colors of ink used in this cityscape that capture the evening sky. On the left side of the cityscape is the sun setting behind Willis Tower. I have used yellow as the color for the sun and then slow let the oranges and greens filter into the sunset.
This cityscape rendering is a study in high contrast lighting because of the sunset colors. It is very important to integrate all the color of your pallet into the drawing because this is equitable. To put all the color in one section is called local color and a bad thing to do. You have to put more of one color that reflects the tone of the region but also have tone of other regions in the mix. In the dark side of the drawing I have light color, and in the light side of the drawing there are dark colors.
Chicago Skyline 290A
The cityscape drawing is a view of the Chicago Loop and East Randolph Street. Behind the Aon Center you can just see the former John Hancock Center and to the right the St. Regis. The St. Regis is the tallest building on the right in this cityscape. Trump Tower is the second tallest building in Chicago because it has 98 floors. The St. Regis is located on East Wacker Drive in Chicago along the river banks.
