This watercolor painting of the Chicago, Illinois, skyline is taken at dusk from Lake Michigan looking west. The focus of the painting is the near north side or Streeterville as this area is called. The tallest building outside of the Loop are located here, amongst them are the John Hancock Center. The Four Seasons Hotel just across Michigan Avenue.
This area if filled with many fine boutiques, salons, and curio shop on and along Oak Street. Also, there are a fine selection of clothing and jewelry shops that will suit any need. Many tourists from all over the country come to visit these fine shops. Oak Street which is in the heart of Streeterville is called a destination.
The most prominent building in the painting is the John Hancock Center. This with other buildings form the pinnacle of the cluster of building around it. Others which includes the Chicago Water Tower, Water Tower Place, Westin Hotel. The Park Hyatt Hotel, Palm Olive Building, Fourth Presbyterian Church, and the Drake Hotel are close by.
