Cityscape
This cityscape rendering is of downtown Chicago looking at the Loop. The view is from Grant Park because the landscape is in the front. This is a close-up view of the downtown because it is too big to fit in this perspective. This is the main view of downtown Chicago, because it dates back to the 19th Century. This location is where the center of Chicago started because merchants traded in this spot. The Chicago River and railroads made the location the best place to do business. This cityscape drawing show the tall skyscrapers that stand in the Loop. The Chicago Loop is the largest cluster of skyscrapers in the United States outside of Manhattan Island. The tallest building in the drawing is Trump Tower in the center of the rendering. The skyscraper on the right is the Aon Center next to the Prudential Building.

The cityscape drawing is done with pen & ink on paper. Hatched lines have been used to make shade and shadows because they are fine lines. Fine lines are needed for architectural drawings because they are fine and let the details come through. Cross-hatched lines have been used to make dark shade because they offer more intense darkness. This cityscape drawing is done with free-hand because it make the work of art personable. The lines of the pen flow nicely to each building because it defines their images. Each building in this cityscape drawing can be easily recognized. The images of each building have been drawn with contour lines because they outline the building. All of the details are done with fine lines because they show fine elements. The best lines for architectural drawings are fine pen & ink lines.
