Description
Chicago skyline 199A pen & ink cityscape drawing at night by artist Stephen Condren, BFA, SAIC.
Cityscape
This cityscape rendering is east Randolph Street at night. Below is the water reflecting in the nighttime lights of traffic. In this cityscape I have employed pen & ink lines to make the darkness of the sky, because it is in the evening. The lines for the evening sky are composed of small vertical hatch strokes because this evens out the ink.
Chicago skyline 199A
The cityscape drawing is very dark because it is done at night. I have left the buildings in this cityscape almost white so that the sky shows their form. Vertical and horizontal lines were used to make this cityscape drawing because building are straight. The only curved lines in this cityscape rendering are the tress and shadows in the water. You can clearly see the different building because I have drawn them correctly. The tallest building in the drawing is the Aon Center, however, the tallest building in real life if the Vista building.
