Description
Chicago skyline 197A pen & ink cityscape drawing by artist Stephen Condren, BFA, SAIC.
Cityscape
This cityscape rendering is of east Randolph Street in Chicago. The view is looking over the waters of Lake Michigan onto Burnham Harbor. In this cityscape rendering I have chosen to do it with a use of many contour lines, because these lines define the image of the skyscrapers. The waves of the water are stylized in a pattern that compliments the trees of Grant Park.
Chicago Skyline 197A
The cityscape drawing above is a pen & ink drawing. I have used pen & ink because it works well with delineation of architecture. Building are long straight structures that need clear lines to show their design. The use of contour lines to outline the shape of the building is good because you can identify the structures. In the middle of the drawing stands the Aon Center and the Vista building at the far right. The Vista building is the tallest building in the drawing because it is set back on Wacker Driver.
