Navy Pier A Chicago Landmark
Chicago Navy Pier pen & ink drawing with Chicago skyline by skyline artist Stephen F. Condren, BFA-SAIC. This small black pen & ink drawing captures in a moment the Chicago skyline, Navy Pier. The Centennial Wheel, Chicago Waterfront Trail, and The John Hancock Center can be seen as well. The offers a nice view without any sacrifice to architectural detail and crisp lakefront imagery.
Chicago Navy Pier #941A
The Chicago Navy Pier is the most popular tourist attraction in the State of Illinois. When Daniel Burnham first drew this up in his famous work “The Plan of Chicago” he had 12 such piers in mind. However, along the shores of Chicago, however, only this one became a reality. On Navy pier are a host of things to see and do such as the Chicago Children’s Museum, The Chicago Shakespeare Theatre , and the Smith Museum Of Stained Glass Windows. There are many restaurants, kiosks, and shops all along the famous pier.
Skyline
My focus on the pen & ink drawing was simple flowing lines to capture the imagery of the pier and the cityscape behind it. The sailboats on the right side of the drawing give the scene the nautical effect that is so much a part of this site.
This has been one of my most popular prints and the demand for it has been increasing. In time this will become a famous pen & ink drawing of the Chicago Navy Pier.
