Chicago Harbor Lighthouse #1089A is Delineated with Contour & Hatched Lines Because They Are Linear
Overall Description of Chicago Harbor Lighthouse #1089A
This cityscape drawing is a pleasure to talk about here because it contains aesthetic values. This cityscape drawing shows both downtown Chicago and the lighthouse because the skyline is behind the lighthouse.
Skyline: Chicago Harbor Lighthouse #1089A
Outline
The skyline of Chicago Harbor Lighthouse #1089A is seen from Burnham Harbor because it shows the skyline behind the lighthouse.
Delineation
I have used contour lines to draw the image of lighthouse because they show the outline of the building. To capture the shade and shadows of the lighthouse, I have used fine hatched and cross-hatched lines because they offer form.

The Chicago Harbor Lighthouse
Lighthouse
Chicago Harbor Lighthouse watercolor painting with Chicago Navy Pier by skyline artist Stephen F. Condren, BFA-SAIC. Because this is perhaps the most famous lighthouse in all of Chicago, Illinois, being right across the channel from Navy Pier and downtown Chicago. This is a most charming structure having all the trappings that one looks for in a lighthouse: tall spire, spiral staircase, active beacon, and color. Pen & ink, pencil, watercolor drawing. of Chicago harbor lighthouse #1089A.
Architecture
I very much enjoyed doing this watercolor for the attention to detail on the architecture is very nice. Because I particularly like the windows on the tower because of their proportion to the house and how the surface of the window enclosures is vertical and do not incline towards the angle of the tower.
Shadowing
It is now getting late in the afternoon, and the sun is starting to go down. The sun leaves a solid shadow line around the lighthouse and base which it rests upon.
