Description
Bar Scene #123A pencil tavern drawing, which is for sale here, at discount with prints by artist and United States Navy Veteran, Stephen F. Condren, BFA, SAIC, of Condren Galleries, a Fine Arts Gallery, offering JPEG & PDF scans.
The scene is the interior of Phoenix Club in Elk Grove Village, near Chicago. At the center of the drawing is a bistro table and near and behind the table is a gathering of people. It is difficult to see if they are drinking or talking and that is even true for me to see as I draw them! Because I like to capture figures while they are moving I like doing bar scenes. Therefore, bars and taverns make excellent venues for doing live action drawings. I use pencil because that medium offers the best results for quick drawings like Bar Scene #123A
Usually I am either sitting in a lounge chair or seated at the bar with my bad and pencil hard at work. I have to do these very quickly as people are not posing but engaged in casual social activity. Never do I ask the people to stop what they are doing and pose for me!
