I first came upon this wondrous space when I was headed to Japan to serve on the USS Midway CV-41. I had to stay the weekend in San Francisco before the long flight to Tokyo.

Being an ardent Wagnerian I was at the San Francisco Opera house to buy a ticked for the Wagner’s Flying Dutchman (Der Flingende Der Hollander).

Rotunda

After purchasing my ticket I walked across the street to look at the San Francisco City Hall. This beautiful build had captured me, however, I was not in stored for the magnificent rotunda that I was to enter.

The first thing that impressed me was the over all spender of the room. Immediately after that I was immensely impress with how perfectly the staircase fit into the space! There are few interior spaces anywhere that can match that of this grand and resplendent room.
