Description
Bar scene #124A pencil tavern drawing, which is for sale here, at discount with prints by artist and United States Navy Veteran, Stephen F. Condren, BFA, SAIC, of Condren Galleries, a Fine Arts Gallery, offering JPEG & PDF scans. This drawing is done in the back bar or terrace as it is commonly called. This was the outside dining area of the restaurant that used to be here. The themes of the “Old West” because it was a restaurant before and can be seen in the architecture all around this section. Therefore, the drawing is making use of high contrast to give power to the image of the lady standing. Because I like quick drawings I use pencil instead of pen & ink.
Behind the woman that is standing are lights on the porch wall. These light emanate strongly from the rear of the drawing giving intensity to the lady standing. When you look at the railing to the right side of the lady you can see the light from the back coming through the rails. Because this is a converted restaurant to a night club there are some architectural incongruities that need to be fixed. Beside this, the bar is in the middle of the space taking up good seating room.
