Philadelphia Skyline #791A is Delineated with Contour & Hatched Lines Because They Are Linear
Overall Description of Philadelphia Skyline #791A
This cityscape drawing is a pleasure to talk about here because it contains aesthetic values. This cityscape drawing shows downtown Philadelphia at sunset because the sun is going down.
Skyline: Philadelphia Skyline #791A
Outline
The skyline of Philadelphia is nice because the buildings are tall and handsome.
Delineation
I have used contour lines to draw the image of Philadelphia because they show the outline of the city. To capture the shade and shadows of the city, I have used fine hatched and cross-hatched lines.

Cityscape
This lovely watercolor painting of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, skyline is taken from FDR Park. In the park is the view of the small Classical Gazebo used as a sitting spot for visitors to the park. This image along with the lovely golden sunset above make for a lovely cityscape rendering. This watercolor is one of my favorite cityscape watercolors, because of the sunset and the delineation of the skyscrapers. The strength of the cityscape lies in the four towering skyscrapers that dominate the rendering.
These buildings show the strength and stature of the great city of Philadelphia. I have made a point to make the skyscrapers the focal point of the cityscape because of the delineation of the structures. The gazebo in FDR Park is the only other element as well detailed at the skyscrapers, because it is in the front of the rendering.
Philadelphia Skyline #791A
The city looks it’s best in the late afternoon with the setting of the sun. Philadelphia is truly a great and wonderful city because it is historic and civic minded. There are many civic and cultural organizations here, which make this a vibrant community. The Art Museum is one of the finest in the country, and the Philadelphia Orchestra is world famous.
For years Leopold Stokowski was the conductor of the symphony. Later Eugene Ormandy made the Philadelphia Orchestra the great institution that it is today because he was a master conductor. Like other great symphony orchestra around the country, it attracts many visitors to the city.
Outline
I have used pen & ink in conjunction with the pencil outlines to enhance the details of these fine building. I take great delight in the shad and shadow with hatches on the small temple. The landscaping of FDR Park makes for a wonderful entry into this cityscape, because it is well designed.
