Cityscape
This cityscape rendering is a pen & ink drawing of downtown Chicago. The Loop is the name of this business district because the Chicago River loops around it. This cityscape is a correct view of the Loop because it stops at Randolph Street. Trump Tower and the Aon Center are not in the Loop. Trump Tower is in River North, and the Aon Center is on East Randolph Street and are not included in this cityscape rendering. The Loop is the area inside the looping of the Chicago River and Michigan Avenue. This cityscape drawing is focused on the Chicago Loop.
Chicago Skyline 247A
The cityscape drawing is done in free-hand because it is not for commercial use. Hatched lines are used extensively to create shade and shadows because they make intensity. Hatched lines can be put closer together to make the drawing darker, because this makes it more interesting. The more shade and shadows that you have in a cityscape drawing the better it looks. Cityscape drawings are filled with skyscrapers because they are architectural. Architecture demands good clear lines, and clean shadows for presentation. Because architecture is detailed the lines in a cityscape must be clear. It is good practice to keep the lines straight because is give stature to the buildings.
