Cityscape
This cityscape rendering is done with pen & ink on paper, because that holds the ink best. Below the ink drawing is a pencil sketch that gives the basic out line of the cityscape. This sketch is important because I use it as a guideline for the ink that follows. Like a road map, the sketch works well for me in executing the drawing, however it must not be too dark or it competes with the pen & ink. This pen weight is medium so the lines are not real fine, but good for the cityscape.
Chicago Skyline 186A
The cityscape drawing is taking from the south branch of the Chicago river, and looking north. Willis Tower it the tall building in the center of the cityscape. However, right in front of it, and lower is the building just south of it. Since they are aligned it is difficult to see. I have made use of vertical and horizonal lines to make the images of the cityscape. I have not used any cross-hatching at all because that can be too intense for the cityscape.
