The Drawing

In this fine pen & ink drawing of the Madison, Wisconsin skyline is done from the shores of Lake Monona. Because this is a free-hand sketch rather than a full blown architectural rendering, or illustration, it is clean and clear. The focus on the drawing has been on the delineation of the structures in conjunction with the trees and landscape of the park below. The focus of attention is on the dome of the State Capital to the left center of the rendering.

In the case of Madison, and the State Capital dome, the pen & inks make a wonderful way to express the image of this great city. Most importantly, the contrast of the Classical Architecture of the Capital dome, with the modern design of the office, and government building below, offer a nice juxtaposition of line work.
