This drawing is of the historic Oak Park, Illinois mansion in the very exclusive estate section of north Oak Park. The mansion is located at 220 N. Euclid Avenue, Oak Park, Illinois. The mansion takes up an entire city block and is position in the center of the property, and the recessed back to the alley that runs behind it. The house was built in 1913, the era of new and modern electric lighting in homes. The Model T Ford was up and running, and there was plenty of room in the large garage with chauffer’s quarter to the north side of the property.
Style
The architect for the mansion was Charles E. White Jr., who work with Frank Lloyd Wright. Because this style of home is a typical “modern” suburban prototype, it was of the new electric era. The is a touch of Tudor in the dormers and stone relief.

Stylus Sketch
This fine line pencil drawing give a nice image of the property. This was not intended to be a fully detailed rendering, but rather a lighting flash drawing that captures the spirit of the structure. Due to the vast scale of the dwelling it is difficult to capture the entire house in one drawing. For example, the morning room is covered with bushes and trees as is the library, thus making it difficult to rendering as a complete delineation. Most importantly, the house was designed to be lived in, thus it has a very comfortable and welcoming appearance, rather than a cold austere façade.
